Balakot (Urdu: بالاکوٹ), is a small city in Mansehra District in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan.Balakot is a (Tehsil)subdivision of Mansehra District and is The the main city of this area.Balakot is located on the river Kunhar, about thirty-eight kilometres in north-east of the city of Mansehra. Balakot and other locations in AJK were particularly hard hit by the 8 October 2005 earthquake. Over 95,000 people lost their lives during this moment magnitude 7.6 temblor.
